OZARK TAUGHT ME to pivot

As Marty Byrd can attest, you don’t always have the option to choose a new career path. Instead, you may be called upon to use your skills in a new way.

Every week I speak with someone who is motivated to leave their current job and enter the world of Corporate Social Responsibility. Bravo! We need you.

But not every CSR job has a CSR title. You may excel in marketing, procurement or sales. You may be an operations or accounting wizard. Surprise - these are CSR roles! Businesses need to reduce emissions associated with every transaction, account for financial climate risks, practice intentional equity and inclusion, and innovate for a more circular economy. The CSR team is simply focused on overarching strategy and metrics. But it takes the entire employee base to recognize opportunities and solve the challenges that make lasting change.

To ensure the people at your company and throughout your value chain are safe (physically and psychologically), paid a living wage and reducing waste and emissions, our planet needs all hands on deck.

Something for later:

Read, read, read. This field is evolving at lightning speed and it has a language of its own. Educate yourself on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Science Based Targets, and the benefits of strong Diversity, Equity & Inclusion programs.
